Pachinko Season 2 Release Date

Pachinko Season 1 is all set to premiere on the 25th of March 2022. The trailer looks exciting and this has already raised the excitement for a probable season 2. There has been no official announcement made by the makers of the series regarding season 2. However, we can expect that if season 1 is received well, Pachinko will have season 2 and the series might continue. It is too early to expect an announcement. The original book had received great reviews and became a fan favorite in no time.

As the release date is approaching, rumors are afloat around the show. Many people are speculating that the series will not have a season 2 since the original novel also has only one part. However, the series has space for growth. The makers can easily depict another family in similar circumstances and so season 2 isn’t all that impossible. It will be too soon for a final decision and the best fans can do is wait for the official announcement. If the makers decide to go ahead with a season 2 they might release it sometime next year. This is because shooting and production will also require some time.

Pachinko Season 2 Story

The story of Pachinko revolves around an immigrant Korean family. It has become even more relevant in the context of today. The story will follow the family through four generations as they deal with the aftermath of having to leave their home country. Their suffering and pain has been depicted in the book. From the initial trailers, we can gauge that the series seems to have done a good job portraying it. The series has been made in three languages including English, Korean and Japanese. The creator, Hugh has spoken in interviews about how the story of immigration connected with them emotionally. Hugh related to the story because of his family background. In a way, this series can surely be considered as a tribute to suffering families.

The 2017 novel Pachinko had received acclaim for its brilliant portrayal of racism and institutional cinema. These are not popular subjects in popular cinema. Thus Pachinko is a series that is on its way to breaking norms. The serialization of the story will ensure that the story gets embedded in the minds of people who must know it. Some people have expressed their confusion at the makers limiting the series to only 8 episodes. As the original novella had around 490 pages. It will be interesting to see how the makers manage to fit it all without compromising with the quality.
