The show is based on the Coen brothers’ 1996 film of the same title, which was written and produced by them and is set in the same universe. No Country for Old Men is a neo-western criminal thriller film scripted by Joel and Ethan Coen in 2007. It is modeled on Cormac McCarthy’s 2005 novel of the same title. The movie is slated amid the desert setting of 1980 West Texas and stars  Javier Bardem, Tommy Lee Jones, and Josh Brolin. In jail, he suffocates a deputy sheriff and kills a passerby on the highway with a trapped bolt pistol before fleeing in his automobile.
