The film was first scheduled to release on July 30, 2021, but it was postponed till January 6, 2022, due to the rising of corona cases. It was again switched further to February 18, 2022, to avoid a clash between the release with RRR, but finally it made its day on February 25, 2022. It gained 4.1 ratings on IMDb and was liked by 63 % of people. It also got 3 out of 5 on The Indian Express and 2.5 on NDTV Gadgets 360. The real story of Ganga, the cinematography with the acting skills of the talented stars made the film reach the hearts of the fans.

The story of Gangubai Kathiawadi revolves around the struggles in life and how she became one of the crime masters but also had done the right things. Yes, she was the one who did a great job in providing women’s rights and equal space to the sex workers. Escaping at the tender age of 16 with her lover Ramnik Lal who was the accountant of her father, she reached Mumbai with a dream of becoming an actress in the Bollywood industry. But, who knew that destiny and life have written something different. She was sold by her lover to a brothel in Kamathipura for just Rs 500, and then was forced into the prostitution industry. Did she accept this as her fate or fight back? Of course yes, she fought. She raised her voice for her rights along with the other women too, until becoming the women gangster of the city.
She got the help of Rahim Lala: a Don, who became her sworn brother, after beating a man of his gang after he raped her. She won the elections and made a beautiful path for the women of that time, and raised her voice for the sex workers. She demanded equal rights for them too. Just give it a watch once.

Ali Bhatt is seen as Ganga Harjivandas aka Gangubai Kathiawadi who is a female mafia don and madam of a brothel in Kamathipura with Ajay Devgn seen in an extended cameo as Rahim Lala, a don and Gangubai’s sworn brother. The film also has other characters too who have done a great job as Shantanu Maheshwari who is seen as Afsaan, Vijay Raaz as Raziabai, Indira Tiwari as Kamli along with Seema Pahwa as Sheela and Varun Kapoor in the character of Ramnik Laal.
