People ask what’s good in Peaky Blinders, my reply is always the same, “what’s bad in it”. The performances of the show are often considered as the best performances ever done in a television show. Social Media is loaded with Peaky Blinder’s quotes and Cillian Murphy’s acting clips. If you want to explain Peaky Blinders in a sentence, “it’s a Godfather for Television”.

This crime drama is based on a Shelby family’s crime and personal life, in which the house leader ‘Tommy Shelby’, (Brilliantly played by Cillian Murphy) leads them to get onto the top and rule Birmingham city. This show starts after the end of world war I, when Thomas Shelby and his brothers Arthur Shelby and John Shelby, return from the war after serving the crown of England. Due to war, Thomas suffers from post-war traumas and psychological illness, which he heals by consuming cocaine.

Later Thomas’s elder brother Arthur agrees to make Thomas head of the family, and as soon as he becomes the head, he starts betting on horse racing to bring up some new money during the economic crisis in England. By doing this he came to the sight of another gang leader Billy Kimber, who owns the Horse Races. This starts a gang rivalry between Billy Kimber’s man and The Peaky Blinders. This series is loosely based on a real gang named “Peaky Blinders” from 1890s England.

This incredible story and brilliant performance made this show definitely worth watching. This is a kind of series you will never get bored of; you can watch peaky blinders on Netflix. As of now, this show has released a total of 5 seasons and the 6th season of this show is going to release on 27th February 2022 on BBC iPlayer. So, long answer short, yes, Peaky Blinders is defiantly worth watching, even it is one of the best television shows ever made.

The series was described as a “riveting, fast-paced tale of post-First World War Birmingham criminals” by David Renshaw of The Guardian, who praised Murphy as the “ever-so-cool Tommy Shelby” and the rest of the actors for their “strong performances.” The Telegraph’s Sarah Compton gave the series a 4/5 rating, praising it for its uniqueness and for “confounding all of our expectations.

 “Peaky Blinders has started as sharp as a dart,” according to Digital Spy, while Den of Geek hailed the season “the most clever, stylish, and engaging BBC drama in centuries.” Hugh David of the Cult TV Times wrote that the show “deserves the billing” since it “manages to tick multiple rating boxes – historical drama, a gangster epic, cinema star leads – while going against the grain in the most exciting of ways.”

The show has received a lot of praise for its stylish cinematography and charismatic performances, as well as for focusing on a part of England and English history that is rarely discussed on television. “We are definitely doing [series] six and we will probably do seven,” Steven Knight told the Birmingham Press Club on May 5, 2018. Knight has hinted that a feature or spin-off could be made after the series is finished. Series 6 was supposed to start filming in March 2020, but it was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic. During the year 2020, rumors circulated that comedian Rowan Atkinson was attached to the show for the role of Adolf Hitler in Series 6, but the producers dismissed the reports, calling them “absolutely untrue.”

Peaky Blinders was declared to be the final television series on January 18, 2021, with series six having just begun filming; nevertheless, Knight promised that “the story will continue in another way.” Following the year-long production pause, Knight later revealed that it had been decided to make a movie instead of a seventh television series, with more associated television series perhaps following. Helen McCrory, who played Polly on the show, died of cancer on April 16, 2021. According to reports, McCrory did not film any scenes for the last season before her death in April 2021.  On February 27, 2022, the series will debut.
