India’s scientific history goes back many years ago and two of the gems in this field are Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai. Based on the life story and achievements of these two nuclear physicists, SonyLiv brings you an Indian web series Rocket Boys. It was released on 4th February 2022 and contains a total of 8 episodes in season 1. The show is created by Nikkhil Advani and directed by Abhay Pannu. Jim Srabh, Regina Cassandra, and Ishwak Singh play the lead roles. 

The series is produced under the production companies Emmay Entertainment and l Roy Kapur Films with Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, and Siddharth Roy Kapoor as producers. The executive producers are Meenakshi Sharma and Rameshchandra Yadav. The show Rocket Boys is conceptualized by Abhay Koranne with Abhay Pannu also writing the screenplay. Kavish Sinha is the casting director of the show while Kausar Munir has written the dialogues. The received a positive response from the audience on the first day of release itself.

The ending of Rocket Boys surely left the fans wanting more. There are so many unanswered questions in the final episode of season 1 of Rocket Boys that it seems like another season is on the way. However, there is no official announcement for the same just yet. It may take a while for the creators and producers to make a decision. 

Until then, there is no news about Rocket Boys Season 2 release date. If there is a second season, it can be expected to be released by next year, that is, 2023. The original cast members may come back for the second season. Moreover, there will be a lot more new cast members because of the new characters that will come into the upcoming season.

As for the plot, there are a lot of unanswered questions to be explored. For example, who killed Homi J Bhabha, and what happened after that? Who continued the Indian Space Programme after him and what were the further achievements? All these questions might be answered if there is a second season.

Rocket Boys Season 2 will also explore the role of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and his contributions to the ISRO projects. The next season will surely focus on the various other rocket launches and space programs that were conducted further. However, these are just predictions. It looks like fans have to wait for some time for any definite or official updates.

The episodes are approximately 45-50 minutes long and the story revolves around two Indian nuclear physicists Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha and Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. The show follows the biography of these two scientists who revolutionized India’s Nuclear and Space Programmes. Rocket Boys is all about science and how these two gems changed the future.

The pilot episode starts featuring Dr. Homi J. Bhabha working as a research scientist in Cambridge. Later on, he decides to come back to India and work under CV Raman in the Indian Institute of Science. We then see his journey from becoming a professor at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research or TIFR to being called the “Father of Indian Nuclear Program”. Dr. Homi Bhabha is also known as the founder of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre or BARC. 

Rocket Boys also follows the story of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. He is called the “Father of Indian Space Program”. He was an Indian astronomer and space scientist who worked his way to give India its first-ever space program. Side by side he also contributed hugely to nuclear power development. The show also features Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s contribution in the same.

The ensemble cast members of Rocket Boys Season 1 include Jim Sarbh as Homi Jehangir Bhabha, Ishwak Singh as Vikram Sarabhai, Rajit Kapoor as Jawaharlal Nehru, Regina Cassandra as Mrinalini Sarabhai, and Arjun Radhakrishnan as A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. Other cast members include K.C. Shankar as Vishwesh Mathur, Neha Chauhan as Kamla Chaudhary, Saba Azad as Parvana Irani, Namit Das as Prosenjit Dey, Dibyendu Bhattacharya as Raza Mehdi, Rajiv Kachroo as JRD Tata, Sandeep Chatterjee as Bholanath Mullick, and Darius Shroff as Jehangir Bhabha.
