The Other One is a British Television Sitcom which was premiered on BBC One on 13th September 2017. Holly Walsh is the writer of this Sitcom and also directed this show.

The writer-director of this Sitcom, Holly Walsh got inspired for this series after a real incident. She once heard a true story of a man who has two families and gave his children the same name to avoid confusion or being utterly infatuated.

This Sitcom follows the story of young Catherine “Cathy” Walcott played by Ellie White and her half-sister, Catherine “Cat” Walcott played by Lauren Socha. These two have no idea of each other’s existence until the death of their father at a birthday party. The movie critic from iNewspaper rated the first episode total of 4 stars and praised the “Stellar Acting”.

This Sitcom is written by Holly Walsh and Co-written by Pippa Brown and she was also the producer of this series under the production studio Tiger Aspect. As of now this British Television Sitcom currently has seven episodes in its first season.

This Sitcom’s pilot was released on 13th September 2017 and ended the show on 5th June 2020. This show is a weekly program on BBC1 and after the last episode ‘Series1’ concludes the show on 5th June, they release all seven episodes on BBC iPlayer to stream anytime and anywhere where BBC iPlayer service is available.

After the first season, fans thought they will get to see another season of “The Other One” as the show is adaptive, and filled with realistic acting performances. The Other One Season 1 Recap

When a 28 years old Cathy Walcott (Ellie White) finds out after the death of her father that she had a secret love life, have another family and a child, her world turned upside down. That child is her half-sister and also named the same Catherine Walcott and is just 5 days younger and she is just 13 miles away from her in a neighboring town.

Although they both wishes that they had a sister. The Catherines sisters have little in common: Cathy is a successful businesswoman with a pension and a fiancé, while on the other hand “Cat” is a food delivery truck driver who is outgoing and bubbly. Despite this, they both were able to form a very close bond with each other during this challenging time. But their mothers are equally opposite though, both of them need to face a rough time adjusting life to a normal one.

Tess Walcott played by Rebecca Walcott, is a woman who vents about her late husband’s philandering during her eulogy at his funeral and is eager and willing to burn all possessions that belonged to him. And eventually having trouble moving on by using dating apps and taking an exercise class.

Despite her eccentricity and melancholy, Marilyn which was played by Siobhan Finneran remains very uncomfortable in Colin’s life and is very outspoken about her feelings.
