Bungo Stray Dogs Season 4 Release Date: Is The Anime Returning?

Bungo stray dogs is a Japanese anime that means literary stray dogs, it is adapted from the manga series of the same name. The anime is produced by Studio Bones and directed by Takuya Igarashi and written by Yoji Enokido. The show premiered on Tokyo MX and simultaneously other television networks. Japanese band GRANRODEO played the opening track of anime titled “Trash Candy” and another band Luck life performed the ending theme titled I’ll call your name.

The series was split into two halves, the first half contained twelve episodes, and the second half also contains twelve episodes. Bungo stray dogs follow the story of individuals who are gifted with supernatural powers and how they do various works in their daily life. The chief animation directors of the show are Nobuhiro Arai and Hiroshi Kanno.

Bungo Stray Dogs is split in two halves in the first half with twelve episodes premiering on 7th April 2016 and the final episode premiering on 23rd June 2016. The second half also contained twelve episodes and it aired from 6th October 2016 to 22nd December 2016, both parts aired on various television networks such as Tokyo MX, Teletama, Chiba TV, and BS11.

On 21st July 2018, it was announced that there would be a third season of the anime which was in development. The third season premiered on 12th April 2019 and ended on 28th June 2019, while in June 2020 it was announced that an anime show based on the spin-off series of the manga was in works titled Bungo stray dogs wan !, Which aired from 13th January to 31st March 2021. As of now, there have been no official announcements made regarding the fourth season but as the manga is progressing we could expect the new season to arrive anytime soon in 2022.

Bungo Stray Dogs Season 4 Story

Bungo Stray Dogs follows the story of Nakajima Atsushi, a boy who is kicked out of his orphanage and now has no place to go or stay. While he is standing on the edge of a river hungry and tired, he rescues a man who was about to commit suicide. That man is Dazai Osamu and he and his partner Kunikida are members of a very secretive and special detective agency.

People working in this agency have supernatural powers to solve cases that are too complex for police or even the military. They are tracking down a tiger that has appeared in the area recently, around the same time Atsushi came to the area, the tiger seems to have a connection with Atsushi and by the time case is solved it would become clear that his future is involved in the detective agency.

From the initial episodes of Bungo Stray Dogs, the makers establish a blend of action, mystery, superpowers, and comedy. The main protagonist of the show is Atsushi, who is an orphan and is thrown out of the orphanage after an incident as he joins the detective agency we are slowly introduced to the world of detectives with supernatural powers and the characters that reside in it, after the incident where Atsushi saves Dazai, they go for food where Dazai asks Atsushi about the tiger that has been spotted roaming around in Yokohama recently.

That’s when Atsushi reveals that the tiger has been following him, watching him over the shadows, he doesn’t realize that the tiger is his supernatural ability and he can transform into the white tiger. That’s when Dazai brings Atsushi into the agency and they together take up government cases and they fight against Port Mafia which is a strong evil organization in the city.

Atsushi Nakajima is voiced by Yuto Uemura for the Japanese version and Max Mittleman for the English version. Atsushi is an 18-year-old orphan teenager who was thrown of the orphanage, he is unaware of his abilities and his abilities are named “beast beneath the moonlight” which allows him to turn into a large white tiger. Osamau Dazai is voiced by Mamoru Miyano for the Japanese version and Kaiji Tang for the English version.

Dazai is known as the suicide maniac because he constantly attempts suicide but on the other hand, he is extremely intelligent and brutal, he was a former executive of Port Mafia who was feared by everyone. His ability is “no longer human”.
