South Korean are rocking everywhere. After getting popularity and love from Korea and now they are also making people crazy in other countries. Squid Game is also known as Round Six which is one of the most hit South Korean drama. This drama genre of action, suspense, and survival drama. Whenever we talk about South Korean drama we often wonder how popular they are Worldwide. The popularity of drama is constantly increasing.
When it comes to drama fans are never satisfied with one season. Squid Game is also one of them. It is one of the highest-rated dramas and has managed to receive a positive response from the audience. Directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk drama is worth watching. After the first season ended fans are desperately waiting for the season 2 release date and recent updates.
Squid Game Season 2 Release Date
Created and Written by Hwang Dong-hyuk. The first season was released on 17 September 2021 on Netflix. Consist of 9 episode with the running timing of 32-63 minutes. The first season of the show was a huge success and received a favorable review from the audience. And Netflix took a charge to make it available internationally. The drama was super hit and managed to grab a positive rating. It stands with an IMDb rating of 8.3 out of 10.
As of there’s no official announcement regarding the release date of season 2. It has not been renewed or canceled. The chances of it returning are very high. But we hope that makers will take their decision in the favor of the audience. We hope to hear the formal announcement from the makers of the drama. However, according to our sources, we expect the Squid Game Season 2 to release sometime in 2023.
Squid Game Season 2 Cast
As of now, there’s no information about the cast we will be seeing in the upcoming season. However, there’s a great probability of the previous cast members returning in Squid Game Season 2.

Squid Game Ending Explained
When the drama started we saw some children were playing a Squid game. Then there’s the entry of Gi-hun is a driver who is living in a rented house with his Mom. Gai-hun has a lot of debt. Gi-hun’s Mom gave him some money. Running out of money, Gi-hun stole his mother’s ATM card. Gai-hun spends money on horse racing and won the game. Gi-hun had borrowed money from many people and they were running after him. He bumps into a girl and that girl steals his money.
Gi-hun and Sang-woo both are friends they live in the same town and grew up together. Gi-hun meets a man who offers him to play a game. He decided to participate in that game. Gi-hun talks to a first-person who has participated in the game who was an old man and he was suffering from a brain tumor. Gi-hun is the last participant in that game. There was a total of 456 players. Then some people who are wearing a red hoody came and explained the rules and regulations of the game.
They said that there will be 6 games in 6days and whoever will win the game will get a large amount of money. Then they also ask the participants to withdraw their names if they are not interested. There are some rules that the players have to follow. The first rule was you cannot stop the game. If the player is not playing the game he will be out. And the last was if everybody will vote to not play the game then the game would be canceled. Then a man appears in a black coat wearing a mask also known as Front Man. He is looking at them through a CCTV camera.
The game started they all gathered on the ground and Gi-hun’s number was 456 and his friend Sang-woo’s who was also playing this game his number was 218. All the players were poor and they are not living a happy life and that’s the reason they were chosen in the game. Front Man asked them to start the game and the name of the game was a green light red light. When the song will start people have to run towards the finish line and as soon as the song will stop people have to stop if anybody will be seeing moving he will be eliminated it means he or she is dead. And before the time finishes, they have to cross the finish line.
After completing the first round everyone was worried. There were only 201 people were left out 456. They were really scared and now they wanted to quit the game but they cannot quit. Sang-woo told them that they can quit the game if they are in majority. The game will be canceled as 101 people ask to quit the game. And as the majority wins the game was canceled. Everyone was dropped back to their place and Sang-woo gave money to Ali. Gi-hun complain to the police but nobody believed him. But Jun-ho believes him and he tries to find out some information about that man but he didn’t tell him anything. As they all are bored of their life again they received the same card that offers them to join the game.

In the third episode, the police officer Jun-ho is searching for his brother. Jun-ho hides and he also traveled with them to the games island location. When the Red Hoody guards were checking the player’s identities Jun-ho killed him and taken his place. In the second round, there are only 137 participants. Gi-hun sees Sang-woo, Ali, and the old man is also participating. They all decided to team up and play the game. In the next seen all the red hoody men doubted Jun-ho.
The second round started in which people have to choose one symbol out of four. Sang-woo asks them to choose different symbols he decided to choose triangle, Ali circle, old man star, and Gi-hun Umbrella. And next step was for people have to stand in their symbol lines. The red hoody workers game him a box in which they got the symbol which they have chosen. And they all have to take out the symbol without breaking.
Everyone is trying to take out the shape and whomever shape was broken the workers’ will kill them. One of the participants tried to cheat he has taken a gun from one of the red hoody workers and tries to kill him. When the workers’ removed his mask he was a small boy and the man killed himself. And suddenly the Frontman came and he killed that boy because he has shown his face.
In the fourth episode, 79 players were eliminated. In this episode, people are killing each other to increase the winning amount. Sang-woo decided that nobody will sleep at night from their team as it was not Safe. Then we see that the red hoody workers are taking the dead body to a room where organ trafficking was going on. Workers 28 was present and 29 who was Jun-ho was not present because he was not knowing anything about organ trafficking. Dr. was a part of the game and also helping them to remove the organs from the dead body. Red hoody worker tells dr. about the next game. Dr. asks Deok-sus to take him in his team and Deok-su agrees to take him because he knows the next game.
At night people started killing others to survive in the game. Many players were killed an old man was missing and dead players were eliminated. And then a worker ask Gi-hun about Hwang Jun-ho but he denied it. At the end of the game out of 107 players, only 80 are left. The next round started players were ask to make a team of 10 players. Gi-hun team decided to bring one player to make the team of 10 as they were only 5 people.
And the third game was Tug of war but in a different manner. This game was not played on the ground it was played at a certain height. In this game, the two teams pull at opposite ends of a rope until one drags the other over a central line. If anyone will fall from there they will be dead. Deok-su team was the strongest and the Sang-woo team was weak because he has two girls and one old man in his team. Then the game started and people who are dead were eliminated. Deok-su team won the game. Then the next tern was team 4 of Sang-woo and team 5. The Sang-woo team was weak and they decided to play this game by using their minds. They all made the strategy and won.

In the fifth episode by using the Sang-woo strategy they won the game and the other teams’ 10 people were dead. In the next scene, we saw that again the red hoody came to take dead bodies to a room. And in this episode, Jun-ho discovered the truth about organ trafficking. Jun-ho and his partner were going out through the secret room to sell the organ. Jun-ho, ask his partner about his brother. The frontman was suspicious about worker number 29 as he was missing. Jun-ho finally reached a secret room and he find out all the data about the players.
Episodes six started from where episode five was ended. All the players were altered by the red hoody workers as there’s was some rules which were broken. Front Man is talking to someone and planning about the next game. Jun-ho was listening to everything as he was hidden in the same room.
The next game started and they all have to makes a team of two players. Sang-woo and Ali, and Gi-hun team up with the old man. In the last game, there were only 40 players. Now there are only 39 players as one is dead. Mi-nyeo was the only one who was alone and red Hoody pick her up and take her somewhere.
The game started and they got a small bag which was having 10 marbles. And there was a twist in the game that they have to take all the 10 marbles from their partner without fighting. And if a person can take the marble he will win the game and another player will be eliminated means dead. In the first scene, we saw Su wins the game and he is safe. Gi-hun is asking the old man to give him his marble and at the end old man has given his marble to Gi-hun. And there was an announcement made in which the old man was eliminated. Next seen we have seen that Sae and her partner talked about their personal life. And at the end, Sae won the game, and her partner Ji-Yeong was eliminated. Whereas Sang-woo cheated on Ali and he won the game and episode six end.
Episode seven starts from where episode six was ended Ali is dead and the red roody man puts his body in a box and takes him. Then in the next scene, we see Mi-nyeo is still alive and we see Front Man was talking to someone about a VIP guest and he kept his phone. He says that I know you are here, he’s talking about Jun-ho because he always kept the receiver of the phone in the opposite direction where Jun-ho kept the phone in the right direction. The frontman tries to find him but he was not successful in finding him. Again one player ask people to make the majority and stop the game but Sang-woo denied it.
Then we see the frontman is meeting another Man who is wearing a golden cat mask but his face is not shown. Then we see that VIP guests have arrived they are wearing animal masks. Then the story continues and we see the red Hoody man come up with a box. We see the man last night asking them for quitting this game he hanged himself. Because in the last game his partner was his wife and he killed her. He was depressed and decided to suicide.

Frontman takes the VIP guest to the luxurious room and again Jun-ho killed one Red Hoody man and taken his place. All the players were taken to a white room where they have to select one t-shirt for them. In this game, we can see two glass pools or stepping stones. There’s a total of 18 pairs of glasses. One side is normal glass and another side is tempered glass.
Tempered glass can handle the weight of two people where normal glass can’t even handle the weight of one. They have to guess which is tempered glass and with the help of its, they have to cross the pool. In this round, one by one everyone was dying. Mi-nyeo grabs Deok-su as he has cheated on her and she falls from the pool. In the end, four of them were left. Player 017 was helping them to recognize the tempered glass as he has worked in a glass factory. But in the end, Sang-woo pushed him and saved himself and two other Gi-hun and Sae-byeok. We also see that the Frontman with his soldiers trying to find Jun-ho.
In the eighth episode, we see Jun-ho reaches an Island. And we see Gi-hun is angry on Sang-woo as he has pushed that man who was helping them two cross the panels. Red Hoody came and congratulated them and given them some clothes. Then we see that Jun-ho called the police but because of some network issue, he was unable to convey the message.
Here the three finalists were sitting and eating, but Sae-byeok is looking very sad. Jun-ho is caught by the Frontman and he is shot on the Front man’s shoulder and asks him to take out his mask. And we see that the frontman is Jun-ho’s brother whom he was searching for. This was very shocking not only for Jun-ho but also for the audience. Then we see Sang-woo and the other two have finished their dinner. And they all are having one knife with them. Sang-woo killed Sae and red Hoody came and put her body into a wooden box and they left. Then we see that frontman shoot on Jun-ho and fell into the ocean. Red Hoody man is burning the dead body of Sae-byeok and the episode ends.
In the last episode, we see that the Red Hoody takes Sang-woo and Gi-hun in the place where the first game red light green light was played. And in this round, they both will play Squid. Which is the main theme and name of the series. The squid game is a children’s game that was shown in the first episode. The game started and VIP guests are watching them and betting who will win.
In the end, we see Gi-hun ask Sang-woo to vote so that he can stop the game because he doesn’t want the price money in which he has to kill his friend but Sang-woo killed himself and died.
Gi-hun win the game and the frontman congratulated him and they threw Gi-hun on the road and left. Gi-hun has received 45, 599, 990,000 which was a winning amount. Then he has taken on 10 won. While he was on his way Sang-woo’s Mom stopped him and she told him about her mom not coming to work for many days. When Gi-hun reached home his mother was dead. Gi-hun was living alone and one day when was sitting near the ocean he received a small piece of paper in which there was an address. Gi-hun reached that place and he saw an old man who was player number one.
When he saw him he understood that he was the leader of that game and the man in the cat mask was none other than the old man. He told Gi-hun that he has done everything just for fun. the old man dies and he leaves. Then we see a frontman came and he closed the eyes of a dead old man. Gi-hun has changed his look leaving like a normal man. He went to the orphanage and met Sae’s brother. Gi-hun asks Sang-woo’s Mom to take care of Sae’s brother and he gives her a bag full of money.
In the end, we saw Gi-hun has a flight to Us. At the metro station, he has seen the same man in the first episode who asked him to play the game. He runs to catch him but is unable to. Maybe they all are going to start the game again and searching for players. Then Gi-hun calls on that number and asks that he want to play the game. But they said you can’t play maybe those people recognized Gi-hun. Gi-hun leaves his flight and decides to catch these people and he came back to the City and the series ends.

Squid Game Season 2 plot
The story of the second season has not been revealed yet but as we have seen season one ended and in the end, Gi-hun decided to catch them. We can expect the story of season 2 will be followed by the story of season one. Also, there are many unanswered questions. One question is what happened to Jun-ho? Will Gi-hun will able to expose them?
