A story diligently portraying the shift in human motivations once pitted against reality, they don’t want pervasive in their world, with some blood and gore, certainly deserves some accolades. One such anime that deal with these issues in a dark-fantasy-specific framework is none other than Akame ga Kill or Akame ga Kiru. Despite the fact that it went astray from its original source material, the anime was able to take into captives several hearts and attentions.
The anime television series was directed by Tomoki Kobayashi and was produced under the banner of Square Enix. It was written by Makoto Uezu while Taku Iwasaki gave the music.
Akame Ga Kill Season 2 Release Date
The first season of the anime was aired on July 7, 2014 and got concluded on December 15, 2015.
It has been quite a time since the anime finished airing and due to its substantial, popularity fans began wandering if the second season was on horizon. I would want to initiate my spate of answers to this question with the fact that no official announcement or any subtlest of the imitation has been provided by the makers so far and neither can we expect them to announce it anytime soon.
Now, the question remains does the anime have the potential of a sequel?
Firstly, looking at the date it finished airing on, it would have become obvious to you now that if they were planning to continue with the anime, they should have done it by now and in fact your intuition is right here. Most of the times, anime don’t continue after they have exceeded a certain time.
Manga Vs Anime
Secondly, the anime actually derailed from its manga after having adapted only the first 8 volumes from the latter and concluded in its own terms. This was due to the fact that, the show was on the verge of its conclusion even before the manga got finished. We can conclude from this very fact that if the makers would intend to go ahead with the season renewal then they would have to come with an entire plot thereof from their own, which is highly unlikely.
The third factor through which we can judge the show’s future prospect is the popularity.
The show on its course of 1 season amassed a loyal fan base and has an IMBD and MyAnimeList rating of 7.8 and 7.5 respectively, which is pretty impressive. However, the popularity inside Japan was discouraging as it was only able to sold 2,150 units. To put this number into perspective, in order to have an assured season renewal a show must be able to sold more than 4000 units from its disc sales. The manga’s sales were not that great either.
To conclude, the anime is less likely to make it appearance again but looking at it from an optimistic perspective there will always be a room for possibilities until we hear something that is beyond a reasonable doubt. But we would like to end it on a positive note. You can read Hinowa Ga Crush, which is sort of sequel to the first season.
Source Material Availibility
The show is based on the Japanese manga of the same name written and illustrated by Takahiro and Tetsuya Tashiro. It first made it appearance on March 20, 2010, and ended on December 22, 2016.
Originally, Takahiro was poised with the idea of an all-female band of Night Raid, whereas the protagonist was supposed to be a boy. However, due to some undisclosed issues, it turned out the way it is today. There was also a prequel that came after the release of the first series of manga titled Akame ga Kill: zero.
