What is an Instagram AR Filter?

How To Make Instagram Filters

AR(Augmented Reality) Filters are computer-generated effects that are designed to superimpose on real-life images. AR Filters add an imagery layer to the background or foreground of the image your camera displays. AR Filters were introduced in 2017. It was not possible to create our own AR Filters at that time. Then Facebook released the AR Filter application Spark AR Studio in 2019. It will allow us to create our own custom Instagram and Facebook AR Filters.

This application is also available for both Android and iPhone users. Users can see how their AR Filters look like on their smartphone, and they can share it on social media. It adds different digital effects to your filter, which moves with you as you move. For example, a cat filter superimposes a cat’s ears and nose over your image. Just keep in mind that AR Instagram Filters are way too different from their preset filters.

Once you get familiar with it, you have to decide whether to create a new filter from scratch or choose from the given eight templates. Now, we will create a world object in the example. The option will allow us to put a 3D object in a real-world setting. There will be a placeholder object in the central panel called the Viewport when you open the template. You have to build your filter here. Then you have to add an object either by importing or accessing a library of objects. At the top left, click Import from AR Library. Then a new window will appear having various options. From the left-hand menu, select 3D Objects.
