Director Deepa Mehta, upon asking about the theme, said that this project is a curiosity about those things about which she does not know much. Adding to her statement, she said that the world is changing drastically, and so she would like to know where things are taking a turn. Citing some examples of countries like Turkey, where things are changing and are taking a drastic turn, she came to a question which asked did the Liberal Left let people down? Or do they not care much to understand their expectations?
The story for the second season is difficult to predict as the makers can come up with a new concept or can continue the previous plot too.

The first season of Leila had six episodes. As already mentioned that until there is no official confirmation. It is difficult for us to say about the number of episodes going to appear in the next season.
In the current scenario of the world, we would see how social structures have a wrong impact on us. Leila is based on the real systems of government that we can easily see today. This story may not be exact, it would not be based on a true story, but the elements of the story depict absolutely the right thing in real-life.
